This charming children's book captures the spirit of the Lagos Kids' Marathon through its lead character Tobi, who reminds me of the achievements of Tobi Amusan, Nigeria's first world champion and 100m hurdles record holder.

I love how different people from different backgrounds had to work together to win a prize. Also, though they all finished the race and got medals, only one person from each category got a trophy: the one who finished first. The activities and easy language make it a good book for children.

"Tobi and the Kids marathon is an interesting and easy read for any child. It highlights all the fun and excitement that occurs during school sports. Personally I was taken aback by Tobi's question about why there are no cars anyway in sight as they prepared for their Marathon, and the answer her dad gave her, which is where I must say well done for that little but important information that was added for children to know that for safety reasons, vehicles should not be allowed in the space used for sports where you have people running. Also, I fancy books that come with a few last pages of fun activities after reading."
